Our habits have changed and so has the dependency on the good old soap and water, which has now been replaced with hand sanitizers. They are extremely hygienic and squash germs on the go, protecting you from catching illnesses. However, most sanitizers contain alcohol, which may not suit everybody’s sensitive skin. Well, how about we tell you that you can make your own batch of hand sanitizer which won’t irritate your skin and get the job done?
With just a few essential oils, you can make your own all-natural and super effective hand sanitizer spray ready to be used anytime. Plus, what makes it even more useful is that it doesn’t dry out your skin like the alcohol ones! Here is what all you will need:
-Witch Hazel
-Aloe Vera
-Essential oils (Tea Tree, Peppermint, Neem or Clove)
-A small bottle
How to make your own hand sanitizer:
-To prepare the concoction, start by mixing aloe vera gel (2-3 tablespoons) in a bowl. To this, add a few drops of witch hazel and essential oils of your liking. It is preferred that you use essential oils which are mild and help fight the bacteria spread.
-Give this mixture a good mix. Once done, transfer this to a bottle you would like to use. Your DIY hand sanitizer is ready to be used!
-You can mix distilled, filtered water in this to create a spray solution.
Benefits of this sanitizer
Hand sanitizers are preferred because of their easy usability and efficacy in killing the germs. When you use a natural solution like this, it offers even greater benefits to boost your immunity and improve your health. Using essential oils like tea tree oil effectively kill harmful bacteria and many other germs like fungi.
Witch hazel contains an essential percentage of alcohol, which is not harsh on the skin yet works effectively. However, you can leave this out if you want to make an alcohol-free solution. On the other hand, aloe vera hydrates and nourishes the skin, without drying it out. You can also choose to include vitamin E in this if you want to increase its benefits and prolong the solution’s shelf life.
The right way to apply it
As handy and convenient hand sanitizers are, it is important to use them in the right way. To quash away germs, start by applying a tiny amount of the sanitizing solution on your harms and let it rub and spread all around the surface. Wait till it dries completely. Do not try to rinse or wipe away the extra after applying the product.
