Gargle with salt water
Just heat a cup of water and add a pinch of salt to it. Gargle with this mix and you will definitely feel the difference.
Have honey
Just a tablespoon of honey will relieve you from that continuous coughing at night. Honey is believed to moisten the throat and reduce the coughing.
Sip ginger tea
Sip some ginger tea before bedtime to help the reduce the frequency of coughing during the night. Green tea will also help – the idea is to have something warm that soothes your throat.
Elevate your head while you rest
Do not rest on a flat surface while you are coughing. Support your head with additional pillows, and keep it elevated so that the irritation can subside.
Apply a balm
Applying balm on your nose will clear the nasal passages and hence will suppress the coughing for a while.
