1. Lavender oil
Lavender oil is quite effective in suppressing inflammation, anxiety and encourages sound sleep, which is beneficial for people suffering from allergies. A study confirmed that lavender essential oil can prevent allergic inflammation and enlargement of mucous cells. You can dilute lavender oil in a carrier oil and apply it on your body or alternatively you can also put some drops in your bathwater.
2. Peppermint oil
Peppermint oil is another effective essential oil known to reduce inflammation. Peppermint oil provides relief from allergies as well as colds, coughs, sinusitis, asthma, and bronchitis. Take 1-2 drops of peppermint oil internally once a day to reduce inflammation.
3. Lemon oil
Citrus-scented essential oils are also useful in clearing your sinus, reducing congestion and other common symptoms of seasonal allergies. This essential oil also supports lymphatic system drainage and helps to overcome different respiratory tract related issues. You can add some drops of lemon essential oil in any carrier oil and apply it on your skin to help prevent allergy.
4. Tea tree oil
Rich in anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties, tea tree oil is suitable for treating certain kinds of skin allergies. But tea oil is not suitable for everyone as it may trigger allergies. So, always do a skin patch test before using this oil. Do not ingest tea tree oil and use it only for external use. Add 2–3 drops of tea tree oil to a clean cotton ball and gently apply to the area of concern.
5. Eucalyptus oil
Eucalyptus oil may help prevent congestion and provide relief from common seasonal allergies. Eucalyptus oil clears congestion in the lungs and sinuses, which is beneficial in reducing symptoms of allergies. But it can also trigger allergies in some people. So do a patch test before using it on other areas.
