Moreover, sitting in front of a laptop or desktop with your neck bent down forward puts a lot of unnecessary strain on your neck. As a result, it can not only cause a stiff neck but terrible pain originating from your neck and going all the way to the back.
Thankfully, there are some really easy exercises which can help you get rid of the nagging pain pretty easily. The best part? You can do it from the comfort of your office chair as well. Thank us later.
1. Move your neck sideways
Steps:
1. Starting from the centre, slowly move your neck to the left side
2. Bring it back to the front
3. Move your neck to your right side
Repeat the process at least 3 times. Make it a point to not move your neck with a jerk.
2. Rotate your head slowly
Steps:
1. Sit straight on your chair and keep your back erect
2. Touch your chin to your collarbone
3. Slowly, roll your chin towards your shoulder
4. Lift your chin upwards to the ceiling
5. Touch your chin to the opposite shoulder
6. Slowly bring it back to the centre
Do keep in mind to do this exercise at a very slow pace.
3. Massage the point
Steps:
1. Relax your shoulders and keep your spine erect
2. Slowly stretch your hands and rotate your head
3. Tuck your chin in and relax your neck muscles
4. Gently reach the throbbing point and massage it slowly
Do not use a lot of pressure while massaging your neck. Be gentle.
4. Look up
The simplest way to ease a stiff neck is to slowly look up and down as much as possible. However, make it point to be gentle with your movements and don’t make any sudden movements.
Tip: Make it a point to consult a medical professional if the pain doesn’t go away even after trying everything.
